Orange handset owners can buy ringtones of Warner Music UK artists such as The Darkness, Holly Valance, Morcheeba, Blazin’ Squad and The Streets for £3 each. Images, which can be downloaded and used as wallpaper, cost £2 each.
Orange customers can also buy Warner Music UK CDs and DVDs via Orange’s WAP portal. If they save their details for future purchases, they will receive a personal identification number via SMS for use every time they make a purchase. They can also access gossip and artist news.
“As a record label, we have a duty to our artists to make their music available to fans in as many ways as possible, including CDs, radio and TV, PCs and mobiles,” said Matt Rennie, media development manager at Warner Music International. “As the technology develops, we see this relationship developing to include more music formats such as streaming video and full-length downloads.”
